California Commission on Peace Officer Standards & Training
The California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requires agencies provide their officers and dispatchers with at least 24 hours of Continuing Professional Training every two years. The purpose is to maintain, update and expand an employee's knowledge and skills. In 2011, employees received 11,120 hours of training.
In 2009, the Training Team acquired POST certification to conduct in-house training for First Aid/CPR, Search Warrant Investigations, Emergency Law Enforcement Spanish, and Crowd Control.
Many department employees have been trained as instructors.
