3D GIS visualization of the Downtown area through GIS

2D GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is already used extensively by residents and City staff.  This technology is being enhanced to deliver interactive 3D visualizations of key areas such as the Downtown, the Transit Mall and Courthouse Square.  The objective behind 3D is to streamline the planning process through better information for the public, policy makers, developers and staff on the visual and engineering implications of planned development.

Click on the video below to see a low resolution version of this new capability being developed to aid visualization of new projects, streetscapes, etc.  Full resolution versions will be available to the public later in this year.
