Roots: Americana

Roots: Americana

In an effort to enhance downtown vibrancy, the City’s Economic Development Division is presenting a free community music event series in Courthouse Square called Roots: Americana. This event will occur one Saturday per month, July through October, from 4pm to 7pm, and will entail the use of Courthouse Square and the closure of Mendocino Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets. The specific dates are: July 9, August 13, September 10, and October 1.

The City is working with Joshua Stithem of North Bay Hootenanny to produce this series.  In addition to adding social programming to the downtown area, the idea behind Roots: Americana (and other North Bay Hootenanny events) is community building -- to encourage people of all ages to pick up instruments and play music together while also promoting local folk/Americana artists.

Roots: Americana will consist of three music areas with overlapping programming – a facilitated jam area, a small acoustic band area, and a main stage. Limited food and beverages will be available on site; however we will be encouraging all attendees to roam the area to visit shops and restaurants.

Updates about the performers can be found at srcity.org/roots. Questions and comments about Roots: Americana can be directed to Joshua at 707-326-5274 / n.b.hootenanny@gmail.com or Raissa de la Rosa at 707-543-3059 / rdelarosa@srcity.org
