Santa Rosa is unique in that our creeks are open and accessible to residents for walking, cycling and enjoyment. In other communities, creeks are forced underground or fenced off. The Creek Stewardship Program offers us opportunities to protect and enhance the creeks we enjoy. Activities include walks, bike rides, nature interpretation, tree planting, restoration work days, presentations on creek topics, and creek activities for youth programs.
Listen to this short interview with Environmental Specialist, Alistair Bleifuss to learn more about the Creek Stewardship Program and visit the program website for a list of upcoming creek events. No matter where you are in Santa Rosa you are close of a creek. Anyone who spends a little time along creeks can volunteer as a Creek Steward.
This interview aired live on the KRUSH Radio on Thursday, April 14, 2011.
