Improving Transportation for Sonoma Seniors and Adults with Disabilities
Santa Rosa -- Sonoma County seniors can learn how to enhance their driving safety and learn what transit options are available for them at a special free 2-in-1 event sponsored by the Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging Transportation and Mobility Committee.
The event will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the Santa Rosa Transit Operations Center, 45 Stony Point Road, across from the Finley Community Center, from 10 am to noon.
Drivers over 60 years of age can participate in a special CarFit program where trained professionals will take them and their vehicle through a 12-step checklist and recommend personal vehicle adjustments, adaptations and activities that will make their vehicle “fit” better and enhance driver safety. The goal is to keep seniors driving safely for as long as possible.
For seniors, adults with disabilities and others who need other travel options, Santa Rosa CityBus and Santa Rosa Paratransit will also be on-hand to review their services and their “Learn to Ride CityBus Travel Training” program. A fixed route bus and a paratransit bus will be on-site and available for tours.
