Greenhouse Gas Reduction Program
The City of Santa Rosa Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Reduction Program is the next step in furthering Santa Rosa’s commitment to sustainability and climate protection. The GHG Reduction Program will be a tool that allows the City to examine and address its impact on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It will include a Climate Action Plan, integration within the General Plan and necessary environmental documentation to ensure that the community’s sustainability goals are successfully implemented and monitored.
The foundation of the GHG Reduction Program will be a Climate Action Plan, or CAP. The CAP will be a roadmap for reducing Santa Rosa’s community-wide emissions related to transportation, land use, energy, waste, water, and agriculture. The CAP will build upon and tie together existing policies and efforts such as the 2035 General Plan, the City’s CAP for government operations, the city’s green building ordinance, the Climate Protection Campaign Community Climate Action Plan, the voter approved urban growth boundary, and more. The CAP will be guided by the community through three community workshops and regular meetings of a stakeholder working group.
