Allocates $15,570 from the General Fund Reserves for the Countywide Complete County Committee

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ROSA APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO SUPPORT A COUNTYWIDE COMPLETE COUNT COMMITTEE FOR THE CENSUS 2000

WHEREAS, the Census will be taken on April 1, 2000; and

WHEREAS, it is increasingly important to have an accurate count for not only legislative representation but also for funding from the Federal and State government; and

WHEREAS, in order to get a more accurate count of the residents of our community, the Census Bureau is recommending that local governments form Complete Count Committees to help educate and inform their residents about the importance of the Census to the community; and

WHEREAS, the County of Sonoma is forming a countywide committee and has asked for financial participation from all Sonoma County cities, based on a pro rata share on population; and

WHEREAS, the City of Santa Rosa's share of the $50,000 budget based on population is $15,570.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the funds to support the Complete Count Committee be appropriated from the reserves of the General Fund and the Council authorizes the City Manager to forward the payment to the County of Sonoma.
