10.1     PROVIDING HOUSING SERVICES TO THE CITY OF SANTA ROSA AS

            SUCCESSOR HOUSING AGENCY TO RETAIN THE HOUSING FUNCTIONS

            PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED BY THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY

 

            BACKGROUND:  On January 10, 2012, the City Council resolved to become the

            Successor Agency to the City of Santa Rosa Redevelopment Agency under Section

            34176 of the Health and Safety Code. Section 34176 provides that the Successor

            Agency may select a housing agency to retain housing assets and functions

            previously performed by the Redevelopment Agency. The Housing Authority was

            previously serving in this capacity under its Agreement for Housing Services (dated

            October 26, 2009) with the City of Santa Rosa Redevelopment Agency.  

 

            RECOMMENDATION:  It is recommended by the Department of Economic

            Development and Housing, that the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Rosa by

            Resolution, accept appointment as Successor Housing Agency and retain the assets

            of and perform the functions previously performed by the Redevelopment Agency,

            pursuant to Section 34176 of the California Health and Safety Code (from AB1X26)

            provided that the necessary resources, determined annually, be appended to the

            budget for the Authority to continue the required work to carry out the obligations of

            the Successor Housing Agency.
