CITY OF SANTA ROSA CULTURAL HERITAGE BOARD

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2011

2:30 P.M.

1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL

Chair Flock called the regular meeting of the Cultural Heritage Board to order at 2:34 p.m. on this day of Wednesday, November 2, 2011.

Present:  DeBacker, Flock, Garrett, Groninga, Jessen, Much, Stoural

2. PUBLIC APPEARANCES – None

3. STATEMENT OF ABSTENTIONS BY BOARD MEMBERS – None

4. PUBLIC HEARING – WHEELER STREET NEW WINDOWS AND DOORS – Landmark Alteration Permit to replace front doors, garage doors and windows with similar doors and windows on the existing contributing duplex located at 815 Wheeler Street in the Burbank Gardens Preservation District – LMA 11-022

City Planner Noah Housh gave a presentation. Applicants Bradley Hahn and Kathy Yerger addressed the Board.

Ex Parte Disclosures – Board Members DeBacker, Jessen, Groninga and Garrett visited the site. Board Member Stoural drove by the site.

Public Comment – None

MOVED by Board Member Much, seconded by Board Member Garrett and carried with the following vote:

  • ABSTAIN:  (0)
  • ABSENT:  (0)

to adopt and waive the reading of the text of the resolution in item 4, as amended, as follows:

RESOLUTION NO. 282 ENTITLED:  RESOLUTION OF THE CULTURAL HERITAGE BOARD OF THE CITY OF SANTA ROSA APPROVING A LANDMARK ALTERATION PERMIT FOR WHEELER STREET NEW WINDOWS AND DOORS LOCATED AT 815 WHEELER STREET IN THE BURBANK GARDENS PRESERVATION DISTRICT, ASSESSOR’S PARCEL NUMBER 009-253-025, FILE NUMBER LMA 11-022

Conditions 5, 6 and 7 were amended to read as follows:

5. This action approves the replacement of the front doors with solid wood doors which may or may not incorporate windows, or salvage doors of an appropriate style as identified in concept plans submitted for review by the CHB, dated August 25, 2011.

6. Front façades of garage structures shall be re-sided and siding material may be stucco or horizontal lap siding. If horizontal lap siding is used it shall match the width and thickness of the existing historic siding used on the side façades of these structures.  Door constructed to appear as “Carriage Style” doors are required to be used for the replacement doors on the garage structures.

7. All replaced window trim is required to match the dimensions and style of the existing historic trim used in the original construction of the home.

The Cultural Heritage Board Minutes of August 3, 2011 were approved as submitted.

9. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – September 7, 2011

The Cultural Heritage Board Minutes of September 7, 2011 were approved as submitted.

10. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business before the Cultural Heritage Board, Chair Flock adjourned the regular meeting at 4:15 p.m. to the regular meeting of Wednesday, December 7, 2011.
