NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS
Jim Wilkinson handed out information about the Preserve America Initiative that the Neighborhood Alliance and Santa Rosa Past are going to ask Council to support. If the Council approves applying for the grant, there are several benefits to the city if Santa Rosa is accepted. We may receive $50-$100,000 in grant money. This money may be applied to a number of historic issues, one of which might be updating the Historic Properties Inventory. The city of Monterey received a grant and the city planner has told Jim that she is willing to assist in the grant. Jim also mentioned that it now takes anywhere from four to twelve months to remove a reported dead tree, and that a woman in his neighborhood will be looking at a $7,000 bill for concrete repair to her front sidewalk.
The CAB agreed to support the grant proposal.
Marsha Chevalier described the proposed construction on San Miguel and Francisco Blvd. in her neighborhood and listed the concerns of the neighbors. Safety for pedestrians and bicyclists was a major concern. She would like to have CAB assistance when it comes time to further address these issues as well as with vernal pools and placement of detention water drains.
John Sutter discussed the newly formed Neighborhood Alliance.
