CHAIR REPORT

Attended meetings on Downtown Station Area Plan

REPORT: SMART AND STATION AREA PLAN

Ken McNab gave an overview of the Downtown Station Area Plan reporting that the $450,000 grant was studying an area in a 1/2 mile radius from the potential rail station in Railroad Square. There have been several community meetings. The discussion has centered on land use intensification and bringing people downtown. The specific plan will be released in the Fall.

Steve Birdlebough with SMART said that there appears to be consensus that we will get a train and that the freeway can't be widened any further so we need to look at other options. They are projecting 5000 riders per day. Most of the ridership would be between the Rail Station and Petaluma. About 10% would go as far as Larkspur to pick up the Ferry. There will be a ballot measure on in November.

OTHER

ACTION: Send CAB members the COPE brochure.
ACTION: Add Evelyn to the Exec committee

COURTHOUSE SQUARE

Sally reported that the City Council established a new committee that will be looking at Courthouse Square. Lisa Kranz is the planner for the project.  The first step is to look at the Square and what is currently in the Square. Second step will be to look at similar squares in other cities of similar size and the final step will be to determine how the citizens should be involved in the discussion.  CAB is being looked at as the group that can help with the outreach. Sally is representing the CAB on the committee.
