APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes for the 1/25/06 meeting were approved as submitted.
PERSONAL APPEARANCES
There were no personal appearances.
NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS
The neighborhood leaders present introduced themselves and shared the budget priorities they had developed for the Council Budget hearing. They requested support from CAB on several of the issues.
ACTION: The Chair will respond in writing about two of the issues: Neighborhood Website and Historic Preservation Grants.
GRAFFITI PROGRAM
Sally Mullen presented information about the graffiti abatement program explaining that the small volunteer group needed help from neighborhoods and CAB in getting information out about the program, recruiting block leaders to take on areas and to educated property owners about signing a waiver that will allow volunteers to do graffiti removal.
ACTION: CAB members took brochures and will share them with residents in their area.
RESTRUCTURING
Lee Dibble presented a map that restructured the areas so that there were 14 instead of 7. The proposal was that there would be one person from each of the 14 areas so that the area would be smaller and hopefully more manageable. After considerable discussion, the group decided to keep it to seven areas and suggest the Chair be empowered to discuss with Council members when there is a vacancy what geographic area could use representation. For example, right now there is no one on the CAB from Rincon Valley, so perhaps when the next northeast area representative spot comes up, the Chair could work with the Council to identify a Rincon Valley area person.
SAFETY FAIR
Lee shared there will be a Safety Fair on April 22 and it would be great to have the CAB represented.
ACTION: The group agreed to have a table to sign up neighborhoods for presentations.
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Sally reported she would be meeting with school principals to discuss how CAB could help them in educating the parents and teachers about the importance of safety preparedness.
Meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
