Recycle Autumn Leaves

TO PROTECT OUR CREEKS AND STREETS

• Keep leaves out of street gutters and storm drains which lead directly to creeks.
• Place leaves in your yard waste container which is collected weekly.  Only put plant materials in the yard waste container.  For service information contact Santa Rosa Recycling and Collection at 586-1478.
• Compost the leaves and use the rich nutrients to enhance your garden.
• Receive a discount coupon for a load of compost for taking the leaves to the Sonoma County Landfill.

City street sweepers clean each street once a month. Leaves piled in streets may not be picked up by the city street sweepers and may be washed into storm drain inlets.

Leaves clog our gutters and storm drains causing street flooding every year.

Overloading creeks with leaves can deplete the water of oxygen as the leaves decompose. Low oxygen levels harm fish.
