Water Use Efficiency Calculator
Studies have shown that most landscapes receive almost twice the amount of water they actually need to remain healthy. The water use efficiency calculator will allow you to determine if your outdoor water use is actually appropriate for the needs of your specific landscape. You will need your City of Santa Rosa account number and online passcode to access the calculator, as well as a rough idea of the square-footage of your landscape and plant types. Click below to access the Water Use Efficiency Calculator. If you do not know your online passcode, you may call the Utility Billing Department at 543-3150 to request it.

How efficiently are you using water in your house and yard? You can use this calculator to find out. Simply enter your City of Santa Rosa Utility Account number (9-digit number printed on your water bill each month), your Online Passcode (call Utility Billing at (707) 543-3150 to request your passcode), the number of residents (if this is a home), and the size of landscape in square feet for each category.
The calculator will determine your monthly water goals and compare them to your water use for the past 24 months. You will see a table with actual water usage, water goals, potential water and money savings, and your water use efficiency. You will also see a separate table with projected water goals for one year for your home and yard.
The indoor water goal is based on the number of residents. The outdoor water goal is based on your landscape measurements and Santa Rosa weather conditions. The outdoor water goal varies each month because Santa Rosa weather conditions vary throughout the year.
If you don’t have an account with the City of Santa Rosa, you can still use the calculator to project the water needs of your household and yard. Enter the number of residents and landscape information, but leave the Account Number and Online Passcode boxes blank. You may need to turn off the pop-up blocker feature on your computer.
