**DUE TO BUDGET CUTS, THERE WILL BE NO PLAYGROUND PROGRAMS FOR THE SUMMER OF 2010**

 

Be part of the fun happening in Santa Rosa this summer!
Help provide arts, crafts, games, sports, field trips and special events for children grades 1-7. Join us for Wild Wednesdays with field trips and special events.
There are 8 weeks of planned activities at parks and schools throughout Santa Rosa.
Workday runs from 8:45 AM - 4:45 PM (M-F). Employees may receive 20-35 hours per week. Keep reading for more details!

Playground Aide

Playground Aide

Starts at $8.00/hr (Recreation Aide Pay Scale)

Assist in planning, leading, and participating in arts & crafts, games, and sports activities with enthusiasm. Enforce all regulations pertaining to the health and safety of participants and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications: Completed two years of high school and have experience working with children. Must also have some knowledge of arts & crafts, games, or sports and exhibit enthusiasm and creativity. Need own transportation to and from sites and events. One week 30 hour in-service training required (June 2nd-June 6th). Attend mandatory weekly staff meeting. CPR and First Aid optional.

Playground Leader

Playground SpecialistStarts at $8.91/hr
(Recreation Leader Pay Scale)

Cooperatively assist in planning and facilitating week's activities with Specialist and address site tasks and activities. Create a fun and safe environment; lead and participate in activities with enthusiasm. Enforce all regulations pertaining to the health and safety of participants and volunteers. Be a positive role model
for participants and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications: Completed two years of high school and have 2 years experience working with children. Must also have some knowledge of arts & crafts, games, or sports and exhibit enthusiasm and creativity. Need own transportation to and from sites and events. One week 30 hour in-service training required (June 2nd-June 6th). Attend mandatory weekly staff meeting. CPR and First Aid are required.

Playground Leader


Playground Specialist

Starts at $9.83/hr
(Assistant Activity Specialist
Pay Scale)

Cooperatively assist in planning and facilitating week's activities and delegate tasks and activities. Create a fun and safe environment; lead and participate in activities with enthusiasm. Enforce all regulations pertaining to the health and safety of participants and volunteers. Be a positive role model for participants and volunteers. Work closely with Playground permanent staff on a specific area of the Playground program including Arts & Crafts Specialist, Games Specialist, or Lead Staff.

Minimum Qualifications: Must meet all Playground Leader qualifications. Must be organized and have strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills. Must also have extensive knowledge of arts & crafts, games, or sports and exhibit enthusiasm and creativity. Valid CA driver's license required. Need reliable, insured vehicle for transportation to sites. Attend mandatory weekly staff meeting as well as weekly Specialist meeting. Complete site paperwork by given deadlines and assist with all other program related duties as assigned.

Playground Director


Playground Director

Starts at $11.16/hr
(Activity Specialist Pay Scale)

Responsible for supervising and assisting in
training 40 staff and up to 20 LITs. Prepare records and reports, maintain facilities, equipment, and supplies, and enforce all regulations pertaining to the health and safety of participants, LITs, and staff. Work closely with Playground permanent staff on a specific area of the program including Arts & Crafts, Games and Wild Wednesdays, Assets and Collaborations, and LITs. Attend mandatory weekly staff meeting, Specialist meeting,
and Director meeting.
Facilitate Wild Wednesday events and
administer First Aid as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Must meet all Playground Specialist qualifications and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must also have 2 years experience in youth camps or similar programs, and have extensive knowledge and experience in specific Director responsibilities. Valid CA driver's license and insured vehicle for transportation to sites.
