The Neighborhood Services section of the City of Recreation, Parks & Community Services is hiring! Our program emphasis is on gang prevention and intervention. Our programs offer youth a fun and safe place to be after school, educational experiences, recreation enrichment activities.
We are looking for energetic applicants to engage in recreational activities, offer homework assistance, and be a positive role model for youth. Available positions are great for individuals looking for a flexible job, experience with children, or even a school internship!

Sports Clubs
NOW HIRING!
Spring Soccer Clubs and Summer Sports Camps
Our Sports Clubs serve youth ages 6-18.

Hours: During the school year, the hours are Monday-Friday
between 3:00-6:00 PM (2-3 hours per day).
During the summer, the hours may be 3-5 hours a day depending on sites.
ASSISTANT SPORTS COACHES
CLASSIFICATION AND PAY RATE OF AN ACTIVITY SPECIALIST
Additional duties: Encourage youth grades K-8 to participate in ongoing sports and recreational activities and create a fun and safe environment. Organize and facilitate various outdoor sports games, drills, activities, and sports related art projects. Lead and coach independently, mentor youth and be a positive role model, set-up and take down of all equipment.
In addition to Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a high school graduate and have previous experience working with children, preferably in a sports camp setting. Experience working with junior high aged persons is highly desirable. Must have experience in a leadership capacity and be able to establish an effective working relationship with parents, employees, and the general public.
A valid CA driver’s license is required. All coaching staff must attend paid training before starting and work 2-4 days a week. Number of hours may vary from site to site.

Neighborhood Programs

Our Neighborhood Programs are after school and evening youth programs organized in the community room of an apartment complex or neighborhood. These programs serve youth ages 6-18. For more on the Neighborhood Programs of Neighborhood Services, please click here.
Hours: Weekdays year-round between 3:00-6:00 PM (2.5-3 hours per day).
Neighborhood Recreation Leader
Base Pay Rate: $8.91-$10.31 
Job Description:
Encourage youth to participate in ongoing recreational activities and create a fun and safe environment. Organize and facilitate various indoor/outdoor games, activities, art projects, and enrichment clubs. Assist in homework, mentor youth and be a positive role model, set-up and take down of all equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Interest and experience in working with children and teens. Education or training in supervising children, and Spanish speaking skills desirable, but not required. Help youth participate in ongoing recreational programming.
Availablility: Must be available weekdays between 3:00-6:00 PM. May receive 10-20 hours per week.
