AARP Driver Safety Program (55+)
Defensive Driving classes are available to instruct seniors in safe driving techniques to compensate for the aging process for drivers age 55 and older. There is the initial 8- hour class and there are also 4 1/2 hour refresher class (available ONLY to those who have PREVIOUSLY taken the 8 hr class in the last 4 years). By law, Auto Insurance discounts are available upon completion of class (some insurance companies allow age 50 for the discount). Class must be repeated every 3 years. Due to the popularity of these classes, if you sign up and are not able to attend, please let us know. Please note, AARP members must bring their membership card to class for proof of lower enrollment fee.

Awareness through Movement: Feldenkrais Method
Discover how our central nervous system integrates sensation, feeling and thought with movement! These gentle yet profound movement sequences promote perceptual awareness and enhance overall performance and well- being, and can reduce chronic pain, improve breathing and coordination, and encourage a youthful vitality. Experience the improvements that come when you learn to reduce unnecessary muscular effort and release old habit patterns. Wear warm loose fitting clothing and bring a towel for extra comfort. 

Belly Dance Fitness   
A fun workout where we learn traditional Middle Eastern dance steps in a positive, supportive atmosphere using dynamic music. Wear loose comfortable clothes (jingles are provided!). No experience necessary. This is an ongoing drop-in class that meets every Tuesday at the Person Senior Wing from 1:30-2:30 for $5 per class.   

Better Balance                                                                                                
It takes regular exercise and consistant practice to increase your steadiness, stability and balance. Suitable for people who use walkers or canes, those who have had a fall or near fall. This is an ongoing drop-in class that meets every Tuesday at the BVSC from 10:30-11:30 and Friday at the Person Senior Wing from 10:30-11:30 for $4 per class.                                          

Boomer Blast Fitness                                                                                     
A low-impact aerobics class perfect to keep you in shape. Join this fun group and keep moving! This is an ongoing drop-in class that meets every Monday and Friday at the Person Senior Wing from 9:00-10:00 am for $6 per class.

Computer Classes (50+)

  • Beginning Computer Classes over a three-week period. The 90-minute sessions focus on learning mouse skills, windows manipulations and basic word processing techniques. 
  • Intermediate Class to learn more word processing skills, Windows Explorer and file maintenance and computer maintenance.
  • E-mail/Internet Computer Basics gives adults the fundamentals to access the Internet and learn to use email. *You must be proficient in mouse techniques and windows manipulations. Registration priority given to those who have successfully completed the "Beginning Computer Class".
  • Advanced Email/Internet Class if you are looking to hone your internet and email skills this is a good class.
    NOTE: These classes are for PCs only - no MACs. 

Creative Writing
When you sit down to write, do you ask yourself "Who do I think I am?" "What do I have to write about?" or "Who would want to read what I write?"  Find your answers in a warm and friendly environment. We'll also discuss the dreaded "self-censorship" that comes with our social conditioning. Character, plot (yes, even in nonfiction) writing with feeling to connect with the reader and more will be presented along with publishing and self-publishing options. By the end of class you will have completed a piece of writing to take with you-whether poetry, personal essay, short story, chapter(s) of a novel, memoir, or other nonfiction book. So come and discover the story inside you yearning to be heard! Bring a notebook and pencil or pen.

The Creative Flair - Acrylic Painting
This class is for all levels. Come express yourself with the art of painting on canvas. Instructor: Nina Reimer

Fundamentals of Drawing with Christian
Learn the fundamental skills of drawing such as light and shade, figure drawing, landscape, perspective with Artist Christian Quintin. The ability to render what you draw in three dimensions and in a variety of medium will free you to create your own voice. This is an on-going class open to all levels and ages. A list of supplies will be provided with registration.

Learn to Line Dance (50+)
Line Dancing w/ Billie Darling ... enjoy the music and the movement - no partner necessary. Learn some basic line dance steps and prepare to join our on-going class of Advanced Beginners and Intermediate Dancers.

Line Dance Rebels                                                                                          
The dances range from a "beginner" level up to and including "intermediate" choreography to a wide variety of music- country, Latin, rock and jazz. Some knowledge of basic steps is reccomended. This is an ongoing drop-in class that meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30-10:30 at the Person Senior Wing for $2 per class.

Mah Jong                                                                                        
An easy to learn Chinese game played with tiles. This is an ongoing drop-in class that meets every Friday from 10:00-12:30 at the Person Senior Wing for $2 per class.

Pilate As We Age (50+) 
Pilates is a wonderful exercise as we get better with age.  We consciously breathe, develop core strength and awareness, improve balance and posture, and become more flexible.  Enjoy this fun mat class for men and women while we work out the kinks and sore spots.  We will locate core muscles and use them in practical ways. This is an ongoing drop-in class that meets every Tuesday and Thursday at the Person Senior Wing from 9:30-10:30 for $7 per class.

Drop-In for a friendly game of table tennis. All levels welcome! This is an ongoing drop-in class that meets every Wednesday and Friday from 1:00-4:00 for $2 per class.

T'ai Chi Ch'uan for Seniors
T'ai Chi Ch' uan is an ancient Chinese method of physical and spiritual cultivation and self defense. This slow movement and low impact practice is a gentle enjoyable way for anyone to promote both physical and mental health. As with many forms of exercise, benefits can include improving balance and coordination, improving cardiovascular fitness and blood pressure, and assisting in chronic pain. So join our next Tai Chi class in your comfortable, loose- fitting clothes and see what it will do for you. 

A group of ukulele enthusiasts who love to have fun!  This is an ongoing drop-in class that meets every Monday from 11:00-11:45 (Beginners) and Wednesday from 12:30-3:00 (Experienced) at the Person Senior Wing for $2.00 per class.

Watercolor with Barbara
This class is taught by instructor Barbara Marlin-Coole.  All levels of artists are encouraged to participate.  Class focuses on painting freely and with more fun!

Watercolor with Berenice
Instructor Berenice Iriks introduces her students to all aspects of watercolor painting, including basic techniques, knowledge of color, composition, and light effects.   Using these skills, students will learn to develop their own manner of painting.  Whether you are a beginner or advanced student, you will enjoy developing your painting skills in this classes.

Yoga with Donna                                                                                            
Easy Flow Vinyasa Style Yoga is a style which blends Power Vinyasa Yoga with deep stretching and standing balancing as well as some gentle yoga, meditation, and visualization. Students are asked to provide their own Yoga mat and towel.  This is an ongoing  drop in course that meets every Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs from 11:30-12:15 at the Person Senior Wing for $7 per class.                             

Yoga for Every Body
This class adapts practice to suit each person's condition, experience and needs. It incorporates gentle movements, postures, and relaxation techniques to increase strength and flexibility, improve posture, and provide a sense of vitality, well being and deep tanquility. 

Join us for a fun filled hour as you learn the basic Zumba moves to energetic latin and international music.  This is an ongoing  drop in course that meets every Tuesday at the Person Senior Wing from 10:00-11:00 a for $6 per class.
