Summer at Camp Wa-Tam!  Camp Wa-Tam includes canoeing, archery, nature & craft projects, and hiking to Spring Lake for a day of swimming.

This unique summer day camp is held in Howarth Park for children ages 6-12.  We invite your children to join us for a week in the great outdoors, meeting new friends and participating in activities such as songs, games, canoeing, archery, nature, arts and crafts, special guests and hiking to Spring Lake for a day of swimming! Thursday is a special afternoon and evening packed full of fun!  Campers arrive at 1:00pm and spend the afternoon putting the finishing touches on their costumes and props for the very exciting Parents Night Program!  Dinner is cooked over a campfire, and all parents, grandparents, and firends begin arriving at 6:30pm for an hour of entertainment as the campers present songs, skits and spontaneous comedy.  Following the program, parents say good night, and we wind up the day with a snack, a special T-shirt ceremony, and a peacful night's sleep under the stars!  *Note: (Ages 5-3/4 year olds may attend if they have completed kindergarten!)

 Camp Groups

Can my child be
grouped with a friend?

In order for requests to be considered, BOTH campers must request each other at the time of registration.  Only one friend request is allowed.  Tribes/Groups are divided by age so that the activities can be tailored accordingly, so please be sure that the friends requesting one another are of similar age (by one year).  We strive to maintain a group size of between 15-17 and will not rearrange groups if this number is compromised.  We will try to accomodate all requests, however we cannot guarantee placement.  Only requests made prior to the first day of camp will be considered.

Counselors and Staff
Each group of 15 to 17 campers is supervised by one counselor, one counselor aide, and 2-3 CIT's (counselors-in-training).  Our counselors are college age students and our counselor aides are high school age.  All of our staff and volunteers attend a one week inservice training program to learn how to lead the various activities in a fun and safe manner.
