CAMP COUNSELOR AIDE
Pay Rate: $8.00-$8.82
Duties: Assist the Counselors in planning and implementing a day camp program for 12-20 children. Help supervise 2-4 volunteers (CIT’s) in the Couselors’s absence, enforce all rules and administer first aid as needed. Aides participate in activities such as swimming, singing, hiking and skits.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have completed one year of high school, and have some knowledge of games and basic camping skills. A minimum of 3 months experience working with children either as a paid employee or volunteer is required. All camp staff must attend a paid 40 hour Inservice Training and work seven 40 hour weeks of camp.

Camp Counselor
Pay Rate: $8.91-$10.31
Duties: Supervise one counselor aide, 2-4 volunteers (CIT’s) assigned to group; plan and lead camp program for 12-20 children each week; enforce all regulations pertaining to health and safety of participants; responsible for care and maintenance of equipment; administer first
aide as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have completed the 12th grade, and have some knowledge of games and basic camping skills. A minimum of 1 year experience working with children preferably in a camp setting is required. Experience in camping, environmental education, or music is highly desirable. All camp staff must attend a paid 40 hour Inservice Training and work seven 40 hour weeks of camp.

ASSISTANT CAMP DIRECTOR
Pay Rate: $9.83-$11.39
Duties: Hold daily training sessions with the CIT’s. Keep shopping list and pick-up supplies when needed. Assists in menu planning, including determining meal proportions, and purchase of weekly groceries.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a high school graduate and have previous experience working with children, preferable in a camp setting. Experience working with junior high aged persons is highly desirable. Must have experience in a leadership capacity and be able to establish an effective working relationship with parents, employees, and the general public. A valid CA driver’s license is required. All camp staff must attend a paid 40 hour Inservice Training and work seven 40 hour weeks of camp.

CAMP DIRECTOR
Pay Rate: $11.16-$12.91
Duties: Supervise and schedule personnel and volunteer assigned to camp; plans and coordinates a camping program, instructs camp staff in the performance of specific duties, establishes work schedules, prepares records and reports as requested; enforces all regulations pertaining to the health and safety of visitors, parents, and campers; is responsible for the care and maintenance of equipment and facilities, orders and maintains supplies; administers first aid as required. Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have completed two years of college and had previous experience in a responsible leadership position; at least two years of experience working with children, and some knowledge and experience in the principles of supervision. Experience in camping is highly desirable. Must also have the ability to speak and write effectively. A valid CA drivers license in required. All camp staff must attend a paid 40 hour Inservice Training and work seven 40 hour weeks of camp.

ASSISTANT ACTIVITIES SPECIALIST(Administrative/Crafts)
Pay Rate: $9.83-$11.39
Duties: Sets-up and leads daily arts and crafts activities for each group of 12-20 camper, assists with props for skit, assists in the supervision of staff and volunteers, purchases supplies, assists with paperwork and group assignments.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a high school graduate and have previous experience working with children, preferable in a camp setting. Must have experience in a leadership capacity and be able to establish an effective working relationship with parents, employees, and the general public. Must have experience or knowledge of nature projects, activities and arts and crafts. A valid CA driver’s license is required. All camp staff must attend a paid 40 hour In-service Training and work seven 40 hour weeks of camp.

OVERVIEW OF DAY CAMP PROGRAMS:

CAMP WA-TAM is held on the hill above Howarth Park which is located on Summerfield Road in eastern Santa Rosa. Each one week session runs Monday through Friday. Monday-Wednesday staff arrive at approximately 8:30am and leave at 3:30pm. Thursday, they arrive at noon, spend the night, and leave on Friday morning at 11am. Camp activities include canoeing on Lake Ralphine, archery, crafts, songs and skits, and hiking to Spring Lake for a day of fishing and swimming.

DOYLE ADVENTURE CAMP is held in Doyle Park, which is located on Hoen Avenue off of Sonoma Avenue, in central Santa Rosa. Each one week session runs Monday through Friday from 9:30am until 5:30pm. Camp activities include swimming twice a week at Ridgway Pool, one to two field trips a week, crafts, games, and songs.

CAMP YU-CHI is held in the back section of Youth Park located in northwest Santa Rosa (across from Piner High School). Each one week session runs Monday through Friday from 9:30am until 5:30pm. Camp activities include swimming twice a week at Finley Pool, field trips, archery, crafts, games and songs. Click here to learn more about Yu-Chi
All camp staff must attend a paid 40 hour Inservice Training the week of June 4th. Camp programs run June 11 through August 10th and camp counselors and aides are expected to work at least 7 of the 9 weeks. Time off requests will be considered but not guaranteed. All employees must be certified in standard first aid and CPR prior to the first day of work.
