Peter Maloney

Peter Maloney: AIRPORTERS “Sketches from the Road”
August 27 - October 16
Reception: August 27, 4-6 pm

Having been a professional drummer for over 20 years, Peter Maloney is familiar with airports. He is interested in the experiences of his fellow travelers, noting their emotionlessness, and feeling, in himself and his fellow airport-goers, a sense of purgatory while waiting to arrive at a destination. He didn’t set out to create this body of work, rather it results from drawings of what he saw and felt while being a drummer on tour. Like with music, Peter’s interest in drawing originates from an interest in rhythm; using feeling, what is in our souls, to communicate to the viewer or listener.

Student Show

The Second Annual Santa Rosa Student Show
October 21 - December 16
Reception: October 22, 4-6pm

After a successful first year putting on a fall student show at Steele Lane, we are excited to open our doors to student work again this year. Student artwork holds a special place in the art community; often driven by a prompt, classroom-based art gives artists a chance to explore concepts and techniques within the confines of an assignment. Expect to see a variety of works by local student artists.

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

The Steele Lane Community Center is located at 415 Steele Lane in Santa Rosa. Click here for a map.
