AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD TRAINING

This course will meet any individual’s needs to become a Lifeguard.
Course Fee is $195.00 (non-resident) / $185.00 (S.R. resident)
Course prerequisites (will be evaluated on the first day of class)
- 15 years old or older
- Swim Test 300yd. continuous swim broken down into three parts – 100yd. free-style, 100yd. breaststroke, 100yd. choice
- Retrieve a 10lb. object from over 7ft.of water and bring to the wall in less than one minute.
Note: All prerequisite swim testing activity is not timed but must remain continual. Swim goggles are highly recommended.
During the class, you will learn:
- Active, passive, and submerged victim rescue
- Removing a victim from the water
- Backboarding and spinal management
- CPR, Rescue Breathing, and Obstructed Airway Care
- First Aid skills including bandaging, splinting, and care for burns
Note: CPR and other skills will be practiced while kneeling on the floor in a classroom. Please dress appropriately to practice skills.
Successful participants will receive the following certification:
- Lifeguard Training (Valid for 3 years)
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer (Valid for 2 years)
- Standard First Aid (Valid for 3 years)
- First Aid for Public Safety (Title 22) (Valid for 3 years)

LIFEGUARD TRAINING RECERTIFICATION OPTIONS
AMERICAN RED CROSS CHALLENGE COURSE
Usually individuals whose current LGT and/or CPR is near expiration or already expired and who are confident in their knowledge and ability of their skills will challenge.
Participants have the SOLE RESPONSIBILITY of preparing for all knowledge and skills prior to testing. NO ASSISTANCE WILL BE PROVIDED BY AN INSTRUCTOR DURING THE TEST!

Costs are LG $40, CPR $30, T22 $30 plus book ($35) if desired or pocket mask ($12) if needed.
AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD TRAINING REVIEW COURSE
Must have a valid, current Lifeguard Training and First Aid certificate and/or a valid CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificate
Individuals who have current LGT and/or CPR and would like a refresher on the knowledge and skills without repeating the full course
The responsibility for preparing for the final examination is shared by the instructor and the participant(s). An instructor will run the participant(s) through an abbreviated format of the course, which may include video segements, skill practice, lecture, and question and answer. It is highly recommended that participant(s) review/study material on their own prior to the review, and come ready to practice skills or ask questions to clarify material.
AMERICAN RED CROSS WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR COURSE
In this American Red Cross Course you will learn how to teach swim lessons.
You will learn:
Games and Songs
Logical Teaching Progression
How to assist/support students of all ages
How to evaluate a swimmer's progress
Stroke technique
How to keep control of a class of swimmers
The American Red Cross swim lesson system
Longfellow's Whales Tales (a water safety presentation)
CPR FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCUER
CPR for the Professional Rescuer is essential for all first responders, including Lifeguards, Police and Fire, Sports Trainers, Ski Patrol, etc. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive the following certification: American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
