Aquatics - Hammerhead Water Polo

Water Polo is a year round program located at Finley Aquatic Center that provides continual water polo training and competition opportunities to a variety of different age groups and skill levels. The co-ed team is designed to increase the playing, training, and growth opportunities for water polo athletes in the Sonoma County area by providing ample competition opportunities along with local coaching and athlete development training and education. Through training and competition, coaches and athletes learn valuable life lessons, such as goal setting, team work, dedication, discipline, and the value of community involvement all while having fun!

SHARK PUPS 
This class will teach and reinforce the skills used in water polo, the importance of teamwork while developing hand-eye coordination. Emphasis will be on swimming, fun and games. It's recommended that kids enrolled in this class be able to swim 25 yards without aide or rest. This class takes place in 3.5 - 4.5 feet of water and is designed for the participant who has some essential water skills.  (underage students can be evaluated on an individual basis and may be granted permission to participate in this class).

JR. HAMMERHEAD WATERPOLO 
This class teaches fundamental skills required to play the game of water polo.  Emphasis will be on fun water polo related swimming, conditioning and ball work. It's recommended that kids enrolled in this class be able to swim 50 yards without aide or rest. This class takes place in deep water and is designed for the participant who has average swimming skills (level 4 and up). (Underage students will be evaluated on an individual basis and may be granted permission to participate in this class).

TEEN HAMMERHEAD WATERPOLO 
This class includes lots of passing, shooting and scrimmaging. Teaches individual skills while fostering the importance of teamwork and educating participants about official waterpolo rules. Emphasis will be on technique, game skills and scrimmage. Opportunities for seasonal competition are available for interested players. It is recommended that kids be able to swim 100 yards without aide or rest. This class takes place in deep water and is designed for proficient swimmers (level 5 and up). (underage students will be evaluated on an individual basis and may be granted permission to participate in this class).

MASTERS HAMMERHEADS
Looking for an alternative to the gym or need a break from swimming the same laps day after day? This program offers both a great workout four days a week plus the opportunity to learn the game of water polo. This co-ed; monthly, or drop-in recreational water polo program provides friendly competition in an encouraging environment. Each practice includes open warm-up and scrimmages with quality refereeing each session. (Underage students will be evaluated on an individual basis and may be granted permission to participate in this class. Please note: Due to the inherent nature of water polo, lifeguard and coaching staff reserve the right to retract this permission in the interest of participant safety and program fluidity).
