
Park & Facility Planning
This division was developed in 2009 under the Recreation, Parks & Community Services Department and combined the Park Planning and Development team with the Facilities Planning team. Park and Facility Planning is implementing Council goals by overseeing CIP projects, facilities planning, green building retrofits and renovation, park acquisition and development and by administering, researching and writing grants related planning and development. In addition, the division is responsible for maintaining over 100 City owned parks and facilities, inspecting playground equipment and retrofitting outdated facilities as well as implementing and managing future planning and development projects.

Airfield Park
The City of Santa Rosa has engaged Argonaut Construction to build Airfield Neighborhood Park. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has jurisdiction over the endangered California Tiger Salamander, and is currently reviewing the City’s Airfield Park project. The Service has determined the salamanders must be removed before park construction can proceed. To view updates of the project of the CTS migration click here. |

A Place to Play
An 83 acre athletic complex owned and operated by the City with support from the Santa Rosa Youth Athletic Field Trust. Phase I and II are now complete, and The facility has six soccer fields, a senior league ball field, a little league ball field, a wildlife lake, parking, restrooms, concession stand and trails.

In 2007, the City purchased 6 acres of park land in the southwest, purchase was funded by competitive grants including the Urban Park Act of 2001 and Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District. Currently the City is embarking on the master planning process for the site. Until a master plan is developed LandPaths is providing stewardship and programming at the site. |

| Roseland Creek Community Park and Trail
In 2008, the Recreation and Parks Department submitted a grant to the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation & Open Space District and received a reservation of $2.5M for the acquisition of property along Burbank Avenue in southwest Santa Rosa. It is envisioned that there will be a Community Park located along Burbank Ave. Additional property will be acquired as funding becomes available. |

Santa Rosa Senior Center
In 2002, Seniors, Inc. was founded with the sole purpose of raising funds to enable the planning, design and construction of a new “active” senior wing for Finley’s community Center.
