Volunteer to Make Things Better!

Arlie Haig, a Santa Rosa resident, had a vision for a Community Garden in her neighborhood. She drew up plans and presented the concept to the Board of Community Services. The vision became reality with the help of an Eagle Scout, who built the fence and compost bins. Some neighbors pitched in to build vegetable beds, and in the summer of 2000, the first crops were harvested!

EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT

For his Eagle Scout project, Christos Alexiou chose a large project at Nagasawa Community Park at Fountain Grove. His project included spreading 200 yards of wood chips, installing a bulletin board, designing a picnic area and walkway, and assembling picnic tables. This project also included grading the area to make the area level. Christos' project, shown in the pictures above, took 430 hours to complete.
