The City has never before reduced the Parks maintenance staff to a ratio this drastic.  We no longer have the necessary staff and/or funds to address ongoing maintenance needs of the neighborhood parks. The Parks Division has already contracted out the mowing and edging of the turf. Parks staff will continue to provide mandated services such as safety inspections on the playground equipment. All neighborhood parks are getting the same level of service.

The Recreation, Parks & Community Services Department is relying on the goodness of neighbors and community group volunteers to help with maintenance and beautification projects. We already have several active neighborhood groups that have “adopted” their neighborhood park and coordinated cleanup dates. Although the parks staff can supply only minimal support, we can arrange for the delivery of green waste bins or wood chips for work parties. We want your park to be an asset to your neighborhood.
