Summer Work Experience Program

 

 

Applications for 2016 Work Experience are now available. Download application form here. All applications are due by 5pm on April 8th.

Teens age 13-17 can learn valuable on-the-job skills through our Work Experience Program. Teens can choose from various interests including working with the public, children, animals, swimming, coaching and more. Work Experience volunteer hours can satisfy community service graduation requirements for all of the local schools. All applicants must be 13 years of age by June 13, no exceptions.

Teens are not guaranteed their first choice of programs. Placement is based on the needs of the participant, along with the needs of the program. All teens must attend orientation night and the training sessions in order to participate in the program.

NOTE: These are unpaid volunteer positions.

Submit application with fee to either of the following locations:
Steele Lane Community Center (415 Steele Lane)
Finley Community Center (2060 West College)

Important Dates:

Tuesday, March 1st : Applications available.

Thursday, March 31st:  Work Experience Information Night at Steele Lane.  7:00pm - 8:00pm.  Recommended for first time Work Experience participants.  Optional for 2nd and 3rd year volunteers.

Friday, April 8th: All Work Experience Applications are due.  Applications should be dropped off or mailed to the Finley or Steele Lane Community Centers.

Sunday, April 10th:  Work Experience Participants call 543-3428 or 543-3427 between the hours of 9am-1pm to schedule an interview.

Monday, April 11th:  Work Experience Participants call 543-3428 or 543-3427 between the hours of 4pm - 8pm to schedule an interview.

Tuesday, April 12th: Work Experience Applicants call 543-3428 or 543-3427 between the hours of 4pm - 8pm to schedule an interview. 

Wednesday, April 13th:  Work Experience Participants call 543-3428 or 543-3427 between the hours of 4pm - 8pm to schedule an interview.

Saturday, April 16th:  Work Experience Interviews at Finley Community Center.  9am - 5:30pm.

Monday, April 18th:  Work Experience Interviews at Steele Lane Community Center.

Tuesday, April 19th: Work Experience Interviews at Steele Lane Community Center.

Wednesday, April 20th:  Work Experience Interviews at Steele Lane Community Center.

May 11th:  Work Experience Orientation Night at the Finley Center, 7:15pm - 8:30pm. All participants must attend.

Week of June 6, 2016
Training Week (Mandatory)
All applicants must attend orientation and all training dates for the specific program for which they will be working. Specific training dates and times vary, depending on programs.
