Third Street Water and Sewer Main Pipeline Upgrades
Construction of the Third Street Sewer and Water Project is underway. This Capital Improvement Project is vital to the future economic development of downtown, and will upgrade the sewer and water main pipelines on Third Street between B Street and E Street. These upgrades bring water and sewer lines to current standards, and will improve water capacity to the Downtown for fire-flows.
The City is replacing 6 and 12 inch vitrified clay sewer pipes with an 18 inch PVC pipe. The water pipes will be upgraded from 6 inch to 12 inch diameter. In addition to the water and sewer main upgrades, once the underground work is complete, the roadway surface will be completely reconstructed. The project is expected to be complete by November, 2011.
As the City of Santa Rosa continues to reinforce downtown Santa Rosa as a great place to live and work, water and sewer infrastructure upgrades ensure our community will be ready to meet the dynamic needs of businesses and residents now and in the future.
Construction work will occur through the summer. The City intends to limit the inconvenience to the public and businesses. The City is coordinating with organizers of Wednesday Night Market and other Downtown events to ensure impacts to the events are minimized.
The construction cost of this project is $2.5 million and the contractor is Argonaut Constructors, of Santa Rosa.
