Honor Guard
Thirteen officers and one sergeant volunteer to serve on the Department's Honor Guard and Color Guard as a collateral duty. The Honor Guard serves at funerals and special recognition events to "honor" and show respect to an individual or a group of individuals, such as the Peace Officer Memorial Services in Sacramento.
The Color Guard consists of five officers: three officers carry the American flag, the State flag, and a Department flag. They are flanked by two officers who each carry a rifle. The Color Guard participates in formal events where the National Color is displayed, such as the annual Awards Banquet, the Rose Parade and some swearing-in ceremonies. The last two years the Color Guard has received a second place trophy in the Adult Honor Guard category in the Rose Parade, a large community event in downtown Santa Rosa.
