Community Outreach Team
The Community Outreach Team’s mission is to help prevent criminal activity through active community involvement in crime prevention practices. Community awareness and participation is fostered by providing public presentations and educational materials on how to start a Neighborhood Watch Program, personal safety, child safety, Police Officers are our Friends, identity theft, fraud and scam prevention, gang awareness and prevention, robbery prevention, shoplifting awareness and site security surveys.
An essential part of Community Outreach is participating in community events such as health and safety fairs throughout the year. These fairs include yearly events established in our community such as Martin Luther King Day, Cesar Chavez Health Fair, Race Equality Day, Cinco de Mayo, Fourth of July celebrations, Partners in Health Fair, the AMGEN Tour and National Night Out.
Another important component of the Community Outreach Team is the Citizen Police Academy (CPA) which is designed to familiarize participants with the department's policies and practices. Many CPA graduates go on to become volunteers serving in the Volunteers In Police Services Program (VIPS). For more information please click on the links below.
