The Santa Rosa Fire Department Hazardous Material Response Team (HMRT) was founded over 25 years ago and consists of 45 highly trained members on three shifts. HMRT members participate in rigorous on-going training to maintain their HazMat Technician/Specialist certifications. Duties of the HazMat team include chemical sampling and identification, spill and leak control and life-saving decontamination procedures. The HMRT Unit is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to any chemical leak or spill from its base at Fire Station 5 which is located on Parker Hill Road. The highly-trained Santa Rosa Fire Department Hazardous Material Response Team not only serves the citizens of Santa Rosa and the Roseland Fire Protection District but is available to provide Mutual Aid throughout the County and State.
