Southwest Redevelopment Project Area |
The Southwest Redevelopment District was adopted in July, 2000. At approximately 2,000 acres, this is the city’s largest redevelopment area. It comprises two large portions of land in the southwest quadrant of Santa Rosa, south of Highway 12 and west of Highway 101. Some of the land in the Southwest area is unincorporated County.
| |
| |
The Southwest Redevelopment Area includes many areas with underdeveloped infrastructure, including roads in poor condition, missing sidewalks, lack of modern water and sewer systems, lack of amenities such as parks and other public facilities, and poor vehicular access due to narrow and/or discontinuous roads.
Therefore, many of the current and planned redevelopment-funded projects in the Southwest are capital public improvements such as new and improved roads, parks, and sewer and water systems. | |

| Funded by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, Santa Rosa has a Brownfields Program for toxic assessment and clean up of contaminated properties. Currently, a three acre parcel is being remediated to create Airfield Park in an area of the City that is currently underserved by City amenities. |

The goal for The Bayer Neighborhood Park & Gardens is to create a destination park for the Roseland neighborhood and beyond and a true asset for the community. The park will provide for hands-on education, teaching elements, a community garden, promotion of conservation and sustainability, active recreational uses, classes, programs, and events.
