The Imaginists Theatre Collective’s Imaginary Youth Ensemble presents two tales from the Brothers Grimm Holiday Selection. The Bremen Town Musicians follows the journey of an unlikely band of furry and feathered troubadours and The Elves is the classic tale of a poor shoemaker and his wife who are awakened one morning to sudden wonder and success. True to the Imaginists style, the adaptations are full of new turns with a few holiday twists and staged simply to make room for more magic. Buy tickets ($10 adults, $5 students/seniors) at the door. Seating is limited. Please arrive 20 minutes early.

Exhibit of Sonoma State University's Holy Smokes Print Club:
Reception: Friday, April 2, 5-7pm
The Holy Smokes! Print Club is a student run club made up of Sonoma State students and alumni working at all levels of printmaking, from beginning students making their first prints, to advanced students working towards graduate school. Though most students in the group are printmakers, there are drawing and painting majors as well. We work in the mediums of intaglio, lithography, relief, monotype, and silk-screen, and often use printmaking experimentally in mixed media pieces. Despite the small size of our group, there is a wide variety of imagery and conceptual ideas reflective of the individuals in the club— figurative, narrative, and nonobjective work hold equal weight among the types of images made. As a group of young artists, we strive for excellence and professionalism and are ultimately trying to make an impression on the community.

cal-ci-fied:
Anneliese Vobis will present Cal-ci-fied, a multimedia exhibition that combines the areas of art, science and nature. This exhibit is a reflection on personal experiences at the Bodega Marin Lab; the rising acid level in the oceans has been a starting point for intense research and experimentation. The interrelation of organism in ecosystems and natural processes are the basis of her ongoing projects. The resulting work, references repetitive and bodily shapes, is created through a blend of various techniques that conjure up to something undergone an extreme makeover. Her work varies greatly in appearance, from very fragile towards the wild and uncontrolled. In many cases it is the process of change that keeps her going to search deeper for new results. Anneliese’s restless curiosity is an important force that drives her through an endless jungle of metamorphosis.
The location of the Phantom Gallery is now 120 D Street. Opening reception is May 14, 5-7pm. annalisavobis.com

Calaveras del Monton - Dia de los Muertos | Day of the Dead:
Spend an hour with the Dead. The Imaginists Theatre Collective presents "Calaveras del Monton / Calaveras from the Heap" a traditonal (with some twists) Day of the Dead performance in which archetypal and popular Calaveras(skeleton revelers)perform for the living in vignettes, song, and verse. Making appearances are the one and only drag queen, Calaveras Kikis, a Calaveras Waitress, Calaveras Ivory Billed Woodpecker and the astrologer Calaveras Walter Supermacado, to name a few. The performance is interseprsed with traditional music from Latin America with Duo Cantaflor, Flautist Issac Lopez and the women's duo De Colores. Traditionally it is the time of year to honor the Dead and also a time to celebrate life and living. Come and be introduced to a cast of characters who all have soemthing to tell you from beyond the grave! In Mexican tradition, the Day of the Dead is celebrated and thoughts, verses, songs and performances are shared with neighbors, friends and families, along with food and drink (bread of the dead and atole—a hot corn drink, or hot chocolate). It is a time of remembrance to honor and respect those who have died and whom we shall remember always, a time when our hearts fill with joy and sadness, since in our culture, death represents only the cycle of our journey on earth. Presented in Spanish and English. Tickets: Sliding scale $5 - $20 at the door. No one turned away for lack of funds. Seating is limited; please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to show time.
