Check out 8 Simple Steps to Organize a Neighborhood Block Party!

A Neighborhood Block Party is a great way to meet your neighbors, enhance community spirit and build neighborhood unity.  If you are planning on closing off a street and/or having amplified music for your neighborhood celebration, you will need a Special Event Permit. Click HERE for a link to the Special Events Permit Application.

You can also plan your own fun neighborhood activities that give people a chance to get to know each other better, include their children, and enjoy themselves. Examples of potential neighborhood festivities include:

  • Block party
  • Holiday/Seasonal party (ie: Halloween costume contest)
  • Potluck
  • Neighborhood garage sale
  • Neighborhood clothing/book swap
  • Movie night
  • Ice Cream Social
  • Wine & cheese tasting
  • Vegetable swap

Your neighborhood can be as formal and organized as the residents want it to be. E-mail lists, websites, and online forums can make communication easier.
