Green Building is an environmentally conscience building practice that enables architects, contractors, developers, and building owners to use natural resources effectively and efficiently to provide healthier and more energy efficient homes and buildings. The goal behind green building is to leave as small as an environmental footprint as possible by cutting back on construction waste and using recycled material to reduce landfill waste, along with associated off-gases that pollute our environment and conserve water and energy. The City of Santa Rosa is committed to growing and developing its Green Building program (Santa Rosa-Build It Green) to green its municipal buildings, promote professional education, and promote private sector green building.
