PICNIC AREAS

Howarth Park is open year round from sunrise to sunset and the beautiful canopy of oak and redwood trees makes an ideal picnic location!

Barbecues and picnic tables are conveniently located throughout the park

  • First-come, first-serve areas - (No reservation required)
    • Groups of 25+ people do not have to reserve a picnic area, but we would like to know you are coming to the park.  Click here for more information about bringing your group to Howarth Park
  • Reservable Picnic Areas - A bulletin board located near each picnic area posts the current reservation schedule.  These calendars are updated once a week.  Please check the calendar before using these areas! 

Please be sure you aware of the Park Policies when planning a picnic, so that we can keep Howarth Park safe and enjoyable for everyone!  These include no glass bottles, no smoking, and please clean up your area before leaving!  Please note:  If you are using a first-come, first-serve picnic area, someone MUST remain with your picnic area at all times.  Unattended items may be removed.

RESERVABLE PICNIC AREAS
Gazebo Picnic Area
Howarth Park GazeboSeating Capacity: 90
Capacity: 50-200
For larger group gatherings there is a gazebo picnic area, which can be reserved for groups of 50 people or more. This location is ideal for picnics, featuring a large barbecue, eight picnic tables, two ten-foot tables, a covered gazebo, electricity, and accessible restrooms. In addition to its many amenities, the gazebo is located adjacent to a large lawn area and playground.

Fees:  Monday-Friday: $110,  Saturday/Sunday/Holiday: $123
Special Notes:  Groups bringing inflatable jump structures, tables, chairs or canopies will be able to use the non-turf picnic areas in the park, but will not be able to set up these things on the lawn without a special use permit.  This procedure will preserve the lawn for everyone’s enjoyment.  You can also purchase ride tickets at a discounted rate!  (Pony Tickets at $2.70/each - minimum of 10 tickets.  K-Land Ride Tickets at $1.60/each - minimum of 25 tickets.)

 

LOWER OAK PICNIC AREAS
Three Lower Oak picnic areas are also available for reservation.  These smaller group picnic areas are shaded by large oak trees and are the perfect place for family picnics or other small gatherings.  The Lower Oak is a beautiful rustic setting among the trees.

Cypress Point Picnic Area
Seating Capacity:
50 people
Conveniently located next to Lake Ralphine, this small picnic area has 4 tables and 1 barbecue and will accomodate up to 30 people!  More information coming soon!

Located next to the carousel and playground, these areas are available for reservation and come with ride tickets and souvenirs!  Click here for more information

FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVE PICNIC AREAS

Upper Oak Picnic Areas
Located along the pathway at the upper parking lot.

Climbing Wall Picnic Areas
Located between the boathouse, climbing wall playground and the softball field.

Lower Lawn Picnic Area
Located near the gazebo and Land of Imagination Playground.  No tables are available at this location.  Additionally, jump structures are NOT allowed on the turf area without a special use permit.  One or two tables table and chairs and one (1) easy-up canopy is allowed per group on the lawn.  Multiple tables, delivery of rental tables and chairs, or any group using the lawn in such a manner that they have a large area blocked off and unavailable for public use must get a special use permit.  This is to preserve the lawn for everyone's enjoyment!
