Innovative land-use planning is critical to the creation of effective transportation options for the City of Santa Rosa.  The Transportation and Public Works Department represents the City’s ongoing commitment to evaluating options that will support the planning, design and construction of an infrastructure focused on moving people, goods and services through the City.

Transportation and Public Works focuses on the integration of various transportation modalities (car, bus, bike and pedestrian) into the initial land-use planning process. This integration benefits the economic and social health of our community.

Transportation and Public Works
Each year about 2.5 million square feet of the City's streets are slurry sealed. Over the years, streets have been treated in neighborhoods throughout Santa Rosa; this summer some streets will be treated from July 21 - August 1.

SMART Rail and Pathway Project
The special rail train will complete a single round trip through all crossings between Petaluma and Santa Rosa between 7:00am and 5:00pm on four Sundays: April 13, April 20, April 27 and May 4.
